This scarf is named after the 6666 Ranch (a.k.a. Four Sixes Ranch), a historic 458,000 acre ranch in Texas. The main ranch is located near the town of Guthrie in King County, Texas and the main ranch house is off U.S. Highway 82. The Dixon Creek section is located in Carson and Hutchinson Counties. The ranch was established by Captain Samuel Burk Burnett in 1900 with land he purchased from the Louisville Land and Cattle Company. According to legend, the ranch got its name because Burk Burnett won the land in a poker game with four sixes. However, he and his descendants maintain that the name comes from the first herd of cattle he raised on the ranch, which was branded ‘6666.’

Border:
As you cast on, place stitch markers after the 5th stitch and after the 30th stitch for the garter stitch border. Knit the first 5 and last 5 stitches on every row.
