Materials: 1 skein of knitting worsted,
size US10(6.0 mm) circular needle.

Cast on 3 stitches.
Row 1: kfb, k1, kfb. (5)
Row 2: P2, k1, p2.
Row 3: k1 k2fb, k2. (7)
Row 4: P2, k1, p1, k1, p2.
Row 5: k1, kfb, knit until 3 stitches left on row, kfb, k2.
Row 6: P2, *(k1, p1) repeat from * until 3 stitches left on needle, k1, p2.

Repeat rows 5 and 6 until scarf measures 18 inches across the top. (Remember, scarf will stretch when tied around the head.P

2016_05_22-03Finishing with 5-stitch I-cord:
Row 1: Slip 1 stitch, knit till one stitch remains. Turn work.
Row 2: Slip 2 stitches, knit until two stitches remain. Turn work.
Row 3: Slip 3 stitches, knit until 3 stitches remain. Turn work.
Row 4: Slip 4 stitches, knit until 4 stitches remain, Turn work.
Row 5: Slip first 5 stitches of the row off onto a stitch keeper. *K2tog, slip stitch just worked back onto left needle, k2tog. Repeat from * until 5 stitches remain. (Knit this row as tightly as you can to prevent stretching.)
Row 6: Using the 5 remaining stitches, knit 10 inches of I-cord and bind off.
Row 7: Using the 5 stitches on the stitch keeper, attach yarn and knit 10 inches of I-cord. bind off.

Finishing with 3-stitch I-cord:
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: Slip 1 stitch, knit until 1 stitch remain. Turn work.
Row 4: Slip 2 stitches, knit until 2 stitches remain, Turn work.
